Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Joe Maliszewski '04 on November 30, 2006:
Delmar was my great uncle, the brother of my grandfather Kenneth Ring. Due to the great distance our families are spread out I never really got a chance to get to know Uncle Del until later in my life. These eulogies have come to mean something special to me as a member of the class of 2004. It is a sad that I have been checking this web site more and more often to read about my classmate's actions over seas. I decided to check with the class of '51 today to see my uncle's eulogy page. He was a great influence on me attending West Point. I remember seeing his eyes light up at our family reunion in the summer of '00 when he found out that I had been accepted. That was on of the first times I realized the legacy associated with WP and the impact it has on people. As soon as he heard I was applying, I started to get mail from him about the various branches and videos about what to expect while at West Point.
In the summer of '01 he returned to West Point for his 50 year reunion. I was able to attend a lunch in the Cadet Mess with him and his classmates. It was an afternoon spent talking about how the Corps has...
Uncle Del was a big part of my decision to attend WP and how I am serving my country now. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend his funeral due to my units prep for deployment. He was a great man and I know our family will miss him.
Be thou at peace...
