Be Thou At Peace

Posted by CPT Christopher L. Cox on December 9, 2006:

I have served in the United States Army for 23 years working my way through the ranks on the enlisted side and commissioned through OCS. I have met and served with many young officers with a strong drive, desire, and will to succeed in service to their country. However, I was touched by the service of 2LT Emily Perez and her focus on exceeding the band of excellence in the accomplishment of performing her duties as a leader. She obviously led from the front and her soldiers would follow her anywhere. People are people to her. Nobody any better than anyone else regardless of rank or position. Everyone is important. That is how she led her platoon of soldiers. My prayers go out to Emily and her family, as well as her soldiers who are driving on with their mission as she would want them to do. She will always be in their hearts. Not a day will go by they do not think about her. Job well done Emily. May you Rest in Peace.
