Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Marilyn Wensinger Scheuermann on December 25, 2006:

The following words are from Marilyn Wensinger Scheuermann, Ralph's older sister, in a letter to our Mother.

Dear Mom,

Here is the rubbing of Ralph's name which I promised to send. I hope you won't be too sad. I am not over being sad, and I never will be I am certain. The monument in Washington, DC, is a very beautiful memorial. It is a very small consolation I know, but it is beautiful, and it brings a great outpouring of love from the people who see it. It is long in coming, but a very strong and genuine love now. I hope you feel better knowing this.

Ralph was the finest brother anyone could have. I am older now and have met thousands more people, and I am more sure than ever that this is true. No one measures up to him, and I miss him.

But we will see him again someday, that is also certain. And that is the most comforting truth of all. He is always in my prayers, and so are you because I love you both.

With Love
Your daughter,
Marilyn
