Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dan Henshaw ' 08 Pop on January 30, 2007:

To Jacob -- ?Rest in peace -- patriot and warrior. Well Done."

Even though we never met, we share a lot of common experiences --- volunteered to serve in the Army during wartime; used "Blockhouse Signal Mountain as a reference point; enjoyed the impact zone near Ft. Sill; enjoyed "Mansions of the Lord" sung by the West Point Glee Club; and grew up with Midwest values and sense of Duty, Honor, Country.

Thank you Jacob for your superior service. We will carry on and know that you are at peace and in God's hands, as are we. Well done.

Now it's your turn to enjoy His divine embrace and eternal light In the Mansions of the Lord.

We know you'll stand and guard all through the ages to safely keep the Mansions of the Lord.

To Jacob's family -- please accept our sincere condolence. Most of us cannot imagine your pain or loss during such a difficult time. With a heavy heart and memories of fellow soldiers, we come to share your pain.

Your son made a tremendous sacrifice so that we could enjoy the freedoms that we have today and for that we are forever grateful to Jacob.

Thank you for your service as you supported Jacob in this cause against a brutal, cowardly and evil enemy. Because of Soldiers like Jacob and families -- like the Fritz family -- we will be victorious in this battle against an enemy with a mission to destroy us.

As a Vietnam era veteran and the father of a West Point cadet, my heart felt sympathies go out to your entire family.

These soldiers are our brightest and our best that we, as a nation, have to offer. The people of this world owe you more than they will ever realize.

Remember -- we haven't lost Jacob, we know where he is as we are told in John 15:13.

God is now enjoying Jacob's singing and his smile. Truly now God has a well-trained West Point Glee Club member added to His choir.

God Bless you and keep you close.
