Be Thou At Peace

Posted by LT Tom Nelson on January 30, 2007:

Jake,

I don't really know what to say man. The world is a lesser place without you buddy. I heard about what happened and I was absolutely shocked. I talked with James, Nate, and Brian about it and we were all pretty upset. At times like this I find it most comforting to think about the good times we all had together. Whether it was watching movies in the barracks, hanging out at palisades mall, or one of our many trips to NYC, we always had a good time together. And I never met a prouder Nebraska fan. You were always a true brother and a great friend. You will be sorely missed by all who knew you.

My heart goes out to all your friends, your soldiers, and especially your family. You will always be remembered by all. Like your famous phrase goes: "just remember, lucky." And it's true, we were all lucky to have know you and had you touch our lives. The next time James, Nate, Brian and I get together we'll have a cold one in your honor.

Thanks for being a great friend,
Tom
