Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Braden Hestermann on February 14, 2007:

Fritzy, we had a lot of great times together and I will always cherish all of them...from the after-Ball parties back home to driving to the Penn State vs. Nebraska game or the Charlotte Bar Crawl to attending church back at the Old Cadet Chapel...they were all awesome because we were able to enjoy them together. You were a great friend and I will miss you. I will think of you every time I see a Bud Light, Captain Morgan, or Husker football. I know that you are in a better place now and I hope that you are having a blast with Grandma and Grandpa Fritz and I hope that you will enjoy some quality Husker football with my Grandpa...you two are the biggest fans I'll ever know.

It has been tough to continue over here but I promise that we will continue to work hard and live every day to the fullest. This past Sunday the sermon was taken from Ecclesiastes 9 and it seemed almost as though it was a sign to help us cope with your loss. I'll share it below so that everyone can see you working up there already...

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

I have seen something else under the sun:
The race is not to the swift
or the battle to the strong,
nor does food come to the wise
or wealth to the brilliant
or favor to the learned;
but time and chance happen to them all.

Moreover, no one knows when their hour will come:
As fish are caught in a cruel net,
or birds are taken in a snare,
so people are trapped by evil times
that fall unexpectedly upon them.

It doesn't seem fair that your time had to come so soon, but I have faith that you are in a better place now and I pray that you will continue to watch over us all and that you will bless your family with peace and understanding. Well done brother, be thou at peace.

Love,
Braden
