Be Thou At Peace

Posted by MAJ Malcolm Ritchie on February 26, 2007:

Losing CPT Brian Freeman was personally one of worst things I have ever experienced in my lfe. Knowing him was one of the best. As his commander I can say that Brian was an exceptinal officer and human being, and exemplified what it is to be an American. Though he had doubts about our country being in Iraq, and how the mission unfolded, he did his duty to the best of his ability and lived true to the motto of West Point. I grieve at the passing of every soldier here that we work with, yet somehow, I knew that this loss was a heavier burden than most, because it was the first soldier of the 412th Civil Affairs Battalion ever killed in combat, and that everyone knew this man was headed places in life, he was so smart and motivated. I will never forget him.
