The Day I Heard My Friend Had Died My tears lasted for a moment and I rudely went about my day To friends and beers and playoff hockey I hid my sorrow deep away But the hurt, it sunk underneath the surface in my mind And I wished that it would broach that awkward, sub-terranean divide But what do friends expect when friends at war are gone To await such grim realities and then to sing their song? And so I wrote and cried But not enough of either for my Friend And I need those tears to last To last and come again |
