Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Creighton J. Benham on June 23, 2000:

I did not have the honor of serving under Colonel Gorder, as
my term of enlistment was spent in the US Air Force, but I was
privileged to work for and with him during the 1970s, following
his retirement from active duty.
Colonel Gorder was the living definition of the term, "officer
and gentleman". He understood both the theory and practice of
concepts such as leadership, responsibility, and loyalty; and he
possessed a full measure of those virtues - wisdom, kindness,
humor, patience, integrity, honesty and so many others - to which
we all aspire.
Dick Gorder was the best person I ever knew; the world is
poorer and we are all diminished for and by his absence.
Rest thou well, Dick. I am blessed for having known you.
