Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Diandra Fitch on May 29, 2007:

Robert Elliot Fitch was a wonderful human being. As my grandfather, he showed unwaivering love toward my sister, Selena Fitch, and me. From teaching me to ride a bike, yelling at the ducks, and riding around in the Maridian Bell, Grandpa was the best role model I had growing up.

Bob loved many things. Golf was a passion that he tried to pass on to the younger generation, and I'm sure that the Vashon Golf club wished I hadn't created so many divits that day. He enjoyed making tirimisu on holidays, and toothpicks. Playing Honey Bee Rummy with cookie (Mad) in his Vashon house was one of my favorite memories, and his book collection helped me grow into the well-read person I am today.

Unfortunately, I did not know him as well as I had hoped to. Even years after, I am still finding out about my favorite family member. Bob will always live in my heart as the best human-being this planet ever produced.
