Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Todd Tarring on June 14, 2007:

Hello everyone. For those of you who don't know me I grew up with Pat Jr. from about 2nd grade through high school and I would definitley consider Pat Jr. one of my best friends. I was over at Pat's house quite often and was practically part of the family. Pat Jr. and i played select soccer together, studied toghether, and engaged in your typical teenage mischievous behavior together. Pat Sr. and the whole family were always very kind and generous to me and they took me up to the Snowshoe ski chalet more times than i can count. In fact, i remember a few trips to Snowshoe while the chalet was under construction. What a spectatular home which Pat Sr. took great pride in. I think we can all take solace and comfort in that Col Lynch left us doing what he loved to do. Working on his cherished chalet in the mountains of good ole W VA while staying incredibly active and busy regardless of his age. If we could bottle up these traits (energy and determination) and sell it as energy pills we'd have it made. I think we all know that Col Lynch would never let his age slow him down and he was truly young at heart and i think he had about twice the energy and drive as me and i'm 36. Of all the fond memories i have of childhood and my times over at the Lynch house i don't think i ever saw Col Lynch sitting down watching TV. He was like the energizer bunny constantly working on projects around the house. Whether he was fixing a car, mowing the grass, fixing a gutter, etc. There is no doubt that he was a do it yourselfer that could do anything mechanically. This trait was obviously passed down the line to Pat Jr. His life story is truly inspirational and his service to our country is admirable beyond words. I think we all owe Col Lynch and his family a debt of gratitude for his bravery, courage, and selfless service to our country. Heaven gained an angel this past Saturday and i'm honored to have known him. God bless the Lynch family.
