Be Thou At Peace
Posted by James Goughenour on October 5, 2020:
I met Dave in February 1978, when I was dispatched by Cooper Industries' corporate office to Cooper Energy Services in Mt. Vernon OH. Dave was then the VP of Finance at Energy, and he was my new boss. Working for him and with him was a pleasure. He gave me general guidance, and then left me to manage my group to achieve its ambitious goals, which I did. I'm shocked to learn at this late date of his passing at such a young age. I came to know about him that he was a West Point grad, a Ranger grad, and a Wharton MBA grad, all commendable achievements. He had an intelligence that was high, but he was never impudent with it. He was knowledgeable and a solid leader. When I left Energy in November of '79, I had a final "close out" session with him, and he was gracious, encouraging, forthright, and wished me well. I knew I would miss working with him, but I was on my own way to a Vice Presidency and Senior Vice Presidency at two successive firms. May God Bless this special person. Godspeed, Dave.
