I served with Harold. He was my platoon leader. He was much loved by all of us and I think of him every day. I saw what happened and could not reach him in time. Several others went with him and our CO was so devastated by his passing (and the others) that he could not be consoled for several days. Harold was one of my heros. He was close to my age. I think of him often and everyone always said he would someday be a Chief of Staff or higher. He died taking care of his troops. Had he just stayed back to my position he would have been ok. |
