Dick was like a big brother to some of us younger cadets at the Point. He had command presence the day he walked thru the gates and never lost it... even as he fought the good battle. My favorite memory is playing golf at a West Point golf outing in the DC area in the '90's. Dick was the lead of a four man team that started by birdying the first nine holes we played. We were high fiving and having such a great time. Life was good and we could taste the first prize. Well, we got no more birdies, didn't even place in the winnings. But Dick in his wonderful way made it seem like we had won anyway! We will miss him |
