Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dick Puckett on March 18, 2010:

General Pershing recognized that some of the best leaders in the US Army can be discovered in the enlisted ranks and he set up the Prep School route to provide an avenue for such prospects to find a way to West Point. Dick is an exemplar of the type that General Pershing had in mind. The Academy gave each of us a gift - a chance to be a warrior. Dick took this gift and used it in ways that we will never forget. He rose through the ranks to the highest levels but never forgot his roots. He was easy to talk with and knew how to listen. He was an inspiration to me personally and to the Class.
