Be Thou At Peace

Posted by bob gutkowski on August 3, 2013:

I belatedly found out about Dick's passing. When Coach K took over the reins after Knight left, I did Play-by-play and Dick was color analyst. We did a hookup with WBTB-TV in Newark, N.J and a cable TV outlet in Fort Lee, N.J. my wife and I were involved with Marriage Encounter and I think Dick and his wife Dixie were too. Bob Kinney, who still lives in Newburgh, N.Y. was the Sports Information Director at USMA. I recall the night we played the Manhattan Jaspers, just barely got to the arena due to a blizzard. Dick was a consummate professional and we worked well on the Army hoops broadcasts. We had a great time at the Army -Navy hoops game - a real thriller - think it was the '75-76 season when coach K took over. I am deeply sorry to hear about Dick and my best wishes and condolences go out to Dixie and the family. I had tried to reach Dick down in Texas but never did reach him. You can reach me at my email and my home address is 6111 Miramont St. Colorado Springs, CO 80923 and I still have about 13 minutes of our telecast of the Army-Fordham game.

Best Regards,
Bob Gutkowski
