Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Frank Lambert on July 29, 2013:

Vic was in M-1 and my roommate, Al Treado, and I always enjoyed Vic's sense of humor even though he was not always sure of what we were saying. His English was just bad enough that we weren't always sure of what he was saying either. During breaks at night in the barracks, Al (6'5") and I (6'4") would wrestle Vic to the ground all the while calling him a "communist bowl of rice." Of course, he couldn't move and we would be laughing as he denied that he was a communist.....all in good fun....and great memories!

My last visit with Vic was in 2011. My wife, Judy, and I were on a cruise that terminated in Bangkok. Vic and his daughter met us and took us to a local restaurant for dinner. I presented Vic with a Class of 1964 Army hat and his eyes just lit up. He was so appreciative and it was a very special evening.

Little did we know that we would never see him again.

His daughter told us about his very successful career in the Thai Army. He was a credit to himself and our Class.
