Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Robert Magruder on February 5, 1998:
I grew up in Florida as a swimmer like Larry. We swam different events but both had great repect for the other. I was really pleased to see Larry at Beast Barracks. He was the first male swimmer in Florida to break the one minute mark for the 100 backstroke. We enjoyed our friendship as cadets and swimmers, but were always separated by great distances within the confines of West Point.
On graduation we both went off to be field artillerymen and completely lost contact. Larry was one that I looked for at every reunion and never found. Still had visions of running into Larry again to renew old friendships when I heard that he had passed away. It hurts to the core to not have a chance to say goodbye to an old friend. Larry I miss you and know that you and Ingeborg would have been wonderful neighbors and friends had we taken the time to find each other. Be at peace dear friend. I am also sad to know you suffered from your cancer for the last two years.
