Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Stephen Michael Bliss on August 3, 2024:
Buddy was first and foremost a great classmate, cadet leader, teammate, team captain and friend. He was always above the rest in leadership, academics, athletics and was the epitome of what the nation should envision in a West Point cadet/Academy graduate.
Success came quickly after graduation, at Stanford and later on the battlefield in Vietnam. His MOH should not have surprised any of us. Rather, it was an affirmation of our collective belief in what he could be.
He never forgot the courage of the men he led in combat. He remained their champion and advocate throughout his life. His courage in confronting, admitting to and striving for better treatment and understanding for warriors suffering with PTS helped his and future generations of warriors.
Business success and politics made Buddy influential in many circles. He was always a man who made a difference and we are all blessed to know that he was one of our own.
