Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Bob Frank on October 25, 2023:
Rick was what the cadets of our day called 'a hive.' He was very, very smart. On the rare occasion I slipped into one of the Upper Sections, I got to watch Rick in action. Of course, my stay did not last long; but his did. To go along with his intelligence, Rick was blessed with the kindest, most helpful demeanor. He was a serious cadet, but one with a very pleasant personality. After graduation, I did not cross paths with Rick until our 20th Reunion and most reunions after that. We had great conversations at those encounters and I let him know how much I respected his accomplishments. Rick was one of those who demonstrated how much the Services required some brilliant minds along with the Airborne-Ranger types who seem to populate the ranks of the 2nd lieutenants. And Rick was more than up to the task of addressing complex problems. His turn to civilian pursuits benefitted the scientific community and many college students over many years of dedicated service. Well done, Rick! Be thou at peace.
