Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Christopher C. Turner on February 7, 2006:

Gary,
As I write this I remember your sewing machine, one of those things you wouldnt think about seeing in a cadets room. You were "special". You always had a smile on your face, even when things were being piled on you, usually from me doing something stupid. but you were always there, always a friend, making us all remember that it wasnt always that bad. When I got the news I did my best to try and make sure they were wrong, that you were not taken from us. As an officer in the Army you accept the fact that something may happen, as a former classmate of yours, I thought about you all every night. I knew that I was able to sleep better, because you were out defending my freedom, no matter how cliche that sounded. you were all my brothers and sisters. and Gary, I miss you brother. you were one of those "good dudes" that we would so often wonder if they really existed. The world is a different place now without you. I know you are watching us Gary.
May it be said, "Well done; Be thou at peace.
