Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Wes Shelton on February 12, 2006:

I got the personal honor of being in Gary's Beast platoon as well as Buckner squad. Because of those two experiences with him, I was extremely excited when I saw him the first day he entered our batallion here in the 101st. Of course he was smiling like he always did. It still feels like yesterday that we deployed together. No matter what the dangers were, Gary was always there. Two seperate times my convoy ran into trouble over here, and Gary's platoon was launched to come help us out. Hearing "Wardog 4-6" on the net really made me feel safer, because I knew my buddy was coming to help me out. Gary- I'm gonna miss those conversations we had in the chow hall here as well as when we were Battle CPT together. We're all struggling now to get by without you, but I know your spirit is with us here in the BN. Kayla-I'm so sorry for your loss. Your husband was a great man who affected all of us in a positive way. We will all miss him dearly here. Thank you for being there for him. You were definitely the bright point of his life.

Be thou at peace, Gary
