Be Thou At Peace

Posted by your friends on June 2, 2007:

Garry,
Another memorial day weekend has passed, and we are still missing you despite the fact that it's not memorial day or weekend. Every day is memorial day when it comes to you and your memory.

All the eulogies say the same great things about yourself and all the things people wrote about you are true. I'm just revisting this eulogy page to pay homage to all the values, ideas, and character that you embody. If there is a reason for me to not be jaded about the Army in general, it is the simple fact that you believed in the Army more than anyone I knew. The fact that you were more understanding, tolerant, and magnanimous then anyone in our class.

We'll all get promoted in the next couple months. Your buddies are spread across the 4 winds: Joe Myers is in Germany along with Dave Beaudoin and is headed back to the sandlot in a couple months; Prof Xavier is in the sandbox with Tommy Williams and Aaron Miller; Not sure how Schutte is doing but I'm sure he's fine; I saw Matt McKee when he came up to Tacoma and he was doing fine; I think Jared is in Alaska and I think James Gibson is headed back; that's all I know.

Well, I hope your family is doing well. See you when I cross to the other side.
