Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Barry M. Zwick on April 3, 2007:
Michael, you brightened the day of whomever was lucky enough to spend time with you. Your encyclopedic memory allowed you to bring up quotations for every occassion. Your humor was infectious. Your joke telling was superb. At one of our many lunches with Gabrielle Brown Nadal I remember your 9th section juice story. On one of the WPRs the final question was, "you're a homeowner and require electrical work on (something or other). You hire one of your section mates. What are your instructions to him? Your answer saved the day and your residence at USMA. It was, "Sir, I'd never let anyone from the 9th section within 100 yards of my house!" I understand even Col. Green laughed.
Although the hard sciences were not a lot of fun for you, you excelled at the humanities, the written and spoken word, languages and people skills. You were extremely successful in graduate school and again in civilian life even after a full career in the army. Mostly, though, you were a success with your three kids. They love and respect you tremendously. Your friends are a close second behind them and we cherish our memories.
Mike, I'll miss you. You were a good friend and a pleasure to be around. Barry
