Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Susan Lee Hindman on December 16, 2009:

My Dad Lieutenant Colonel Edward Roy Hindman, Sr., United States Army, Retired, United States Military Academy Class of 1949, had earlier prayed to receive and accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is The Light of the World into his heart and life as his personal Lord and Savior before he passed into His glorious presence in heaven at 4:16 a.m. on September 12, 2005! Christ has won the victory of the everlasting and loving conquest of Dad's eternal soul and spirit forever and ever! The battle is over! One day I will see Dad again when we all will be rejoined together again as a family and will sit down together at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb! We will all be in the new heaven and will see the new earth like it says in the Bible New Testament Book of Revelation. I want to share with you one of my favorite Christian hymns that has a strong military theme and one that Dad would really enjoy. Lead On, O King Eternal, with text by Mr. Ernest W. Shurtleff (1862-1917), and music by Mr. Henry T. Smart (1813-1879), to the tune of Lancashire, is here written for your edification:

Lead on, O King eternal, the day of march has come; henceforth in fields of conquest Thy tents shall be our home. Through days of preparation Thy grace has made us strong; and now, O King eternal, we lift our battle song.

Lead on, O King eternal, till sin's fierce war shall cease, and holiness shall whisper the sweet amen of peace. For not with swords loud clashing, nor roll of stirring drums; with deeds of love and mercy the heavenly kingdom comes.

Lead on, O King eternal, we follow, not with fears, for gladness breaks like morning where'er Thy face appears. Thy cross is lifted o'er us, we journey in its light; the crown awaits the conquest; lead on, O God of might.

I wish you much love and peace in the mercy and grace of our loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Psalm 91
Matthew 5:14-16
John 3:16-18 and 14:1-6
Ephesians 2:8-9
