Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Susan Lee Hindman on November 10, 2011:

My Dad received the wonderful saving grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as found in the New Testament Book of Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8-9 which says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast." Dad is now rejoicing with all of the other alive saints in heaven and is singing a new song like found in the Book of Revelation chapter 5 verses 9-10 which says, "And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; and hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth."

Dad informed me toward the last year or so of his earthly life something that I never knew before. He said that his Mother was Norwegian from only her Mother's side. I already knew that Grandma's Father was from Sweden. The author of the great and lively musical Christian hymn that was first introduced in 1918 is Mr. Haldor Lillenas (1885-1959), who was from Norway. His written hymn is recorded here for your edification and blessing:

WONDERFUL GRACE OF JESUS

Wonderful grace of Jesus, greater than all my sin;
How shall my tongue describe it, where shall its praise begin?
Taking away my burden, setting my spirit free,
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me!

Wonderful grace of Jesus, reaching to all the lost,
By it I have been pardoned, saved to the uttermost;
Chains have been torn asunder, giving me liberty,
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me!

Wonderful grace of Jesus, reaching the most defiled,
By its transforming power, making him God's dear child.
Purchasing peace and heaven for all eternity;
And the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me!

REFRAIN: Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus,
Deeper than the mighty rolling sea;
Higher than the mountain, sparkling like a fountain,
All-sufficient grace for even me;
Broader than the scope of my transgressions,
Greater far than all my sin and shame;
O magnify the precious name of Jesus, praise His name!

Place your whole trust and faith in the saving grace of Jesus Christ and his atoning blood that was shed for you on the cross! A prayer of belief and acceptance of Jesus is needed and then the Holy Spirit will come in your life and spirit and soul and seal you for eternal redemption!

With much love in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
