Walter Clifton McCrillis

West Point, 1955

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Carl H. McNair, Jr. on November 18, 2014:

Walt McCrillis was truly a "Man Of All Seasons", as ably demonstrated during his four cadet years, followed by 27 years in the Air Force - a skilled pilot in many aircraft, maintenance officer, Inspector General, Leadership School Commandant, High Power Rifle Team, and Minuteman Missile Controller. Combat service in Vietnam earned him the Bronze Star Medal and four Air Medals.

After more than a quarter century in the Air Force, Walt was called to serve a higher power as a minister in the Lutheran Church where he served numerous parishes over the years, while also assisting the Class of 1955 in our Memorial Services and Reunions. He was truly a man of faith and it was shown in all that he did. We were blessed to have him serve among our number.

May he now rest in eternal peace in the arms of the Almighty, joining his wife, Nan, to whom he was married for almost six decades.

Faithfully - Grip Hands,

Carl McNair, Class of 1955
