| I was in the Class of 1957, a year behind Don. He and I played football together, however: he was the left end, I was the right end in our daily battles with the A Squad first team. He was a better football player than I, and a team-mate and leader who commanded my respect and friendship during those long, cold afternoons on the North Athletic Field and in our games. Once graduated, Don went Air Force and I went Infantry and fortune never entwined our paths again. It was with shock and sadness that I saw his name on the list of those who now grip hands from the Shadows. Be thou at peace, Don. |
