"Our brother John Kirk has reached the end of his earthly toils. The brittle thread which bound him to Earth has been severed and his liberated spirit has winged its flight to the unknown world. The silver cord is loosed; the golden bowl is broken; the pitcher is broken at the fountain; and the wheel is broken at the cistern. The dust has returned to the earth as it was, and his spirit has returned to GOD who gave it." So Mote it Be. Eccl. Chp XII And the best of spirits it is! A brilliant, apolitical soldier's soldier and gifted leader John always inspired that greater good that comes from synergy and keenly understood that it was all about everyone else, never himself. When John said "I love soldiers" he meant it, and it showed. What more can be said but "Well Done John"! Dick Roberts '63 |
