Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Tommy David Thompson on December 28, 2012:

There are two stories that come to mind, one is the Eggplant Parmigianino saga. During my first class year, I lived in the same company, I-2 as Geno. During the year I was lucky enough to date a beautiful Italian girl from Rosedale Long Island, and even luckier that she had a mother who was an excellent cook of Italian Cuisine. One of the things she (the mother) did for me was make me a foot-long Egg Plant Parmigianino sandwich for my trip back to the academy on Sunday nights. I made the mistake of giving a sample to Geno, and guess who was waiting for me at the door every Sunday night wafting in the smell of the sandwich. Never saw another one again.

The second Involves Geno's heritage which made him an expert at anything Italian. I was sitting in the cadet barber shop when he came in and announced that he was going to cut my hair. I somehow agreed and thought he had some skill, but I got the result below. Turns out the next day was our yearbook photograph day. My Tac Officer (Major Bliss?) said it was the first time in four years that my haircut was anywhere near regulation.

I am in great sorrow for his loss, but will always remember the good times we had together.

Regards,

Tommy Thompson
