Be Thou At Peace

| BG Winkel's love of learning was clearly evident in his teaching. He was an incredibly charismatic professor whom I greatly admired. As a cadet taking Quantum Mechanics from him, I was inspired to become a Physics instructor. While serving on the faculty with him, I was awestruck by the optimism and tenacity he displayed during his fight with cancer. I was further humbled and inspired when I chanced to meet him at Walter Reed during my own chemotherapy treatments. His optimism and humor helped light my journey through one of the darkest periods of my life, and for that I will be eternally grateful. I feel the loss of BG Winkel deeply, but hope to someday carry on his legacy of inspiring others. It was a great honor and a privilege to have known him, rest in peace. |
