Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Stephen A. Spaulding MD,' 77 on October 25, 2011:

I first met Earl at Buckner. He was my platoon leader. He was shy, a good all-around guy, very friendly. It was so easy to make Earl laugh, so we had a good bit of fun in our platoon that summer. For some reason, one of my most enduring memories of Camp Buckner is of Earl wearing India, before our first Saturday morning inspection formation, smiling and looking sharp and proud all dressed in white.

Whenever I bumped into Earl after that, during the rest of our four years at West Point, he always had that friendly smile and a handshake.
I am saddened at his passing, the passing of a good man on to his reward much too early. May it be said "Well done! Be thou at peace," Earl. God Bless.
