Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Craig Firth on September 5, 2015:

Dick was one of the finest leaders, and one of the finest men, I have ever known. Always on an even keel, unexcitable, yet full of passion for his country, his family and his work, he was the consummate leader and a committed friend. He loved to talk about his golf cart community in Georgia, and rejoiced in the fact that he had not paid a barber in years (and in fact did not even know where the barber shop was in Baghdad, happily pointing to his shaved head, and then to my own very similar hairline and asking me why I needed a barber). His leadership continued to inspire the folks around him even as a contractor. Following my 36 years in the Army and several as a contractor myself, he remains the only specific person for whom I have ever actively sought to work. To watch him work at DynCorp, whether managing a project or preparing proposals, was to see a genuine artist plying his trade.

It was a privilege to know Dick McEvoy, and I was deeply honored to call him "friend". My world will be forever diminished by his departure.

May God receive you into His good graces, my brother. Rest in Peace.
