Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Kurt Gutierrez on November 20, 2001:

I played football with Leighton and was inspired by his leadership. He played every practice like it was a game. Although, I was selected as Captain of the Football team, I voted for him to be selected as team captain because he inspired me everyday. I spent almost every weekend with Leighton when we were cadets. There were no other friends like my friend Leighton.
My Son's middle name is Leighton. Darold Londo and Billy Noble named have Sons with the same middle name. We want to honor his life. We want our sons to live with the intensity, love of life and grace he carried with him. He was a committed friend, who always thought of others first.
The irony is that Leighton lived every day as if it were his last. He left us too soon, but the energy of his exisitence remains.
I love you brother.
Kurt Gutierrez
