I served under Capt Wheeler in the HHD 86th Signal Battalion in Fort Huachuca. He was a great man of integrity and honor and knew how to take care of his soldiers, even in tough times. I was a corporal then in one of our many field training exercises and I will never forget when Captain Wheeler and 1SGT Epps stayed up with me to the early morning hours studying for my E5 board when he didn't have to. Great leaders. Although I was not in constant contact with him, memories of him often surfaced. He will truly be missed. |
