Be Thou At Peace

Posted by David H. Clemm on March 2, 2009:

As a former member of the F2 Zoo, Class of 1968, I have a special bond with CPT Bunting even though I never knew him. As I read the large number of eulogies celebrating his life, it was apparent that Brian lived life to the fullest, enjoyed what he did, and was loved and respected by many. As a graduate I saw friends and classmates die during Vietnam, but as a father and grandfather I have found it far more difficult to accept the loss of young men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan over the past few years. May God be with his family as you mourn his loss and celebrate his life. A grateful nation thanks you for Brian's service and his ultimate sacrifice for our country.

God looked around his garden,
And He found an empty place.
He then looked down upon this Earth,
And saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you,
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.

He knew you were suffering.
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never,
Get well on Earth again.

He saw that the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, "Peace be Thine."

It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.

Be Thou at Peace,
David Clemm
