Be Thou At Peace

Posted by 1LT Jason Hillman on October 18, 2007:

You may not remember me. I was a plebe in your company when you were a Firstie. I was quiet, reserved, usually in the back. I noticed you though, and admired you from that distance. It's true what they say; your Soldiers are always looking. I looked to you even more so because I knew you were going into aviation. I wanted to fly too.

Tim, I have a favor to ask. I recently lost my best friend, 1LT Tom Martin. Since you've been up there for a while and know your way around, would you mind keeping an eye out for him? Tell him I said hello. If he asks, let him know I had nothing to do with the scholarship funds or charities that were set up. And yes I know he would have wanted any charitable contributions to go to the Army Rugby team. Then you tell him I'm not his lawyer! Haha But let him know I'll do my best to persuade whoever runs that organization that they don't offer the scholarship to the student with the perfect GPA or attendance record. If it's going to honor Tom, the kid will have to fail a few classes along the way. I think he'll get a good laugh out. Tell him that I'll watch out for his Mom and Erika. And Tim, tell him that I miss him and that I love him.

Thanks for passing my message along.

best,
Jason Hillman
