Dan, I don't know how to say this, but throughout my career, I have always thought of you. We connected a month before you passed away. You were a company commander in Afghanistan, and I was a BOLC Lieutenant that was preparing for my first deployment. While in training, I heard you were killed in action and it hit me hard. I have so many good memories of us in High School, and when I heard you were accepted into West Point, I was like...duh...best of all of us. Overall I continue to think back to you and want to make you proud...I am a Major now, and how I wish we could have had that relationship. In high school I was the mentor but after that you became the mentor and I wish I could have known you better. God Speed, you will never be forgotten!! |
