Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Andrew Branch on March 16, 2009:

It hurt, and still does, but as I come to realize that in every comic, superheroes never die, they just change disguise, I am comforted. I hope to one day see Dan in his new white uniform.

Dan, or as I always knew him..."SIR", was such a blessing sent my way.

He was my 2nd detail Beast Commander, and helped me get through a time of the extreme difficulty with a firm handshake, a warm smile, and encouraging words that could inspire the biggest cynic.

To me, I was a peon, to him, I was a winner...I had value...There was no fluke that I was at West Point, because he believed that I had the potential to be a great leader. Quite frankly...he believed that I could do anything.

With no intent to sound cliche, I often hear that some people enter your life for a moment, a season, and others for a lifetime. Although, I would have preferred to have a lifetime friendship with Dan, I have no choice but to accept that the heavens were impatiently waiting for one of their guardian angels to return...Mission Complete.

Thank you Mr and Mrs. Hyde for sharing him with us, and thank you Dan for lending us your love, even if for such a short time. I believe that your heart was big enough that we can share its love, and pass it on...forever.
