Be Thou At Peace

Posted by W. M. Treadway on March 12, 2011:

Our son was CO of E4 in 2008 when Daren was CO of G4. They marched onto the field together at the Army Navy game. They graduated together.

We were lucky enough to have Daren visit us in Houston afterwards when he, our son and another cadet came through town. Daren was vital, intelligent and engaging. An outstanding young man. We enjoyed every minute of our time together. Daren would make any father proud to have him as a son and we were blessed to have met him before he went down range.

Daren was a leader of men and was, for whatever brief period of time, doing what he chose. In the final analysis, there isn't much more.

Our son is there now and I can think of no worse hurt than the one that his parents are dealing with right now. Both my wife and I wish that there was some way to assuage the incredible hurt but there is not.

For what it is worth, we have some pictures of Daren while he was visiting us in Houston. If they would be of any use, please let us know and we'll email them to you.
