Mr and Mrs Heinmiller, My sincerest condolences for the loss of your son. I regret that I did not know John. From what I have heard from my classmates John was a well liked person. I know that no words can replace the loss that you have sustained but I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that John will never be forgotten because he has now joined the Long Gray Line. I would like to leave you with the last two verses of The Alma Mater. And when our work is done, Our course on earth is run, May it be said Well Done! Be thou at peace. Er may that line of gray, Increase from day to day, Live, serve, and die we pray, West Point to thee. |
