Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Hannah Coleman on April 29, 2001:

I met Jack on the way home for Labor Day. We had a long delay in the airport and I got to talk to him a lot. I liked him right away. He was so happy and fun to be around. We just talked about home in Minnesota and our summers...he had nothing to complain about, it was so nice to talk to such a positive and upbeat person. After that I spent time with him whenever I could which was regretfully not very much...Hockey takes up a long time and B-1 and G-3 are pretty far separated..But I did get to spend Army Navy with him in Baltimore where I got to know even more about what a wonderful person he was. Incredibly caring and easy going and funny. The last time I saw him was the Hockey game against RMC. He wasn't playing but wasn't upset at all, he was just happy to spend time with his dad. I left West Point after that and was sure I'd be able to see him again when he would visit home...I'm so sad that isn't true..but I know that one day I will see him again and he will be smiling just as he always was...He made an everlasting impression on my life and I am forever grateful to him..He provided a lesson on how to live our lives with love and goodness and that I will never forget...My deepest sympathies
