Dick and I were teammates on the Plebe and B-Squad Soccer teams. I remember him as an avid player who played with enthusiasm. He really enjoyed the competition. Once our military careers began, I did not see Dick until our 30th reunion. When we met during that "reunion moment", it was like we had been friends for years. Dick was one to make you feel that way. I always thought that the Academy missed the opportunity to do some serious public relations on Dick like they did on Pete Dawkins. He was First Captain, Class President, and Captain of the basketball team that placed third in the NIT in 1963 (before the NCAA Tournament of today). To his classmates, though, he will always remain in our hearts as our very good friend. Well Done. Be Thou At Peace. |
