Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Kayla Avery on February 1, 2008:

It's been two years today since you were taken from me, but in so many ways it still feels like it was yesterday. I know people would give you grief knowing I called you honey bunny, but you wouldn't care. A smile would break out across your face anytime I called you that.

Reading these eulogies is comforting, but heartbreaking in some ways. I have read over and over again about how much you loved me. I know how much you loved me. It was in your eyes everytime I looked at you. It was in your touch whenever we held hands. It was in your kiss, your embrace...you couldn't hide the love you had for me even if you tried. Meeting you made me believe in true love at first sight. Because of you, I know what love is supposed to look like, feel like, sound like. What kills me is not knowing if you knew how much I loved you. YOU were MY world. The sun rose and set on you. I would have followed you all over this world and told you time and again that I would live in a cardboard box if it meant I could have you forever. There isn't a day that I don't think of you and what we had. I also think of what we could have had. Would we be at a different post? Would we be starting a family now? It's been hard, but I've been moving forward as best I can. I graduate on your birthday this year. It kills me that you won't be there. After that I'll be making the move back home, just another thing we planned to do together that I now have to do on my own. I miss you honey bunny. Love, your honey bunny.
