Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Anthony (Tony) Nguyen on February 9, 2006:

You all who knew Gary,
I remember Gary since plebe year. He was always a close friend of the Orienteering Team, though never quite on the Orienteering Team. He somehow managed to get onto some of our cooler trips, even though he hardly ever practiced with us. With Gary, his company was a good enough reason to have him along. However, I really got to know him in ranger school. We both recycled mountains together, though he was recycled due to his willingness to sacrifice himself to give our buddies "GO"s. When we were the security squad he showed his ablility to land nav his platoon to the objective. He always had a better way of doing things, whether its was packing 550 cord to a better place to put your sleeping. The RIs called him "Gaget Ranger" because of all the tools he would bring out. After Ranger graduation his family and mine had dinner together, where he showed his ability to get his friends lost going to Cracker Barrel.

I will miss you Gary. You were one of our best and the world is an uglier place without you.
